WILLIAMSBURG — David Halcomb’s Whitley County Lady Colonels picked up a 50th District win while Megan McKiddy tossed a perfect game.
The Lady Colonels (9-20) exploded for nine runs in the first inning and never looked back in a dominant 17-0 victory over Williamsburg in three innings.
Whitley County pounded out 13 hits and scored in every inning, adding three runs in the second inning before scoring five more in the third inning to finish off the run-rule win.
“We came out with a lot of focus and energy, which is very pleasing to see,” Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. “We were solid in every area of the game. Can’t say enough positive things about Megan. She has pitched well for us all season and getting a perfect game today is pretty special. Our defense and hitting was very good too. We have a fun group of kids and it’s rewarding to see them playing as a team and for one another. We will try and keep it going as we travel to Bell County tomorrow.”
Jaylyn McKay led the way at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and three runs scored. Payton Hurst added two hits and four RBI while Olivia Anderson collected two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs.
Katelyn Shepherd doubled and drove in two runs, Jazlynn Brown added two RBIs, and McKiddy helped her own cause in the pitcher’s circle with a triple and two RBI.
