BEREA — Ryleigh Bretz blasted two home runs and drove in four runs while Kenzie Williams went 4-for-4 as South Laurel rolled past Madison Southern 14-1 Thursday night.
The Lady Cardinals collected 15 hits in the win and pushed their winning streak to five games while improving to 26-5 on the season.
“Aubrie Messer was fantastic tonight in the circle,” South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. “She pitched to contact and we made a lot of plays behind her. We had a lot of great at bats early in the game and were able to jump out to a big lead. Bretz had a big night with two home runs and Lexi also had one. Everybody contributed tonight.”
Bretz finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Williams continued her huge week at the plate with four hits, two RBI and three runs scored.
Lexi Messer added a home run and finished with two hits and an RBI, and Aubrie Messer delivered two hits and two RBI while earning the win in the pitcher’s circle.
Morgan Jackson doubled and scored a run, Emmie Rice added an RBI double, and Skye Lawson drove in two runs for the Lady Cardinals.
South Laurel scored in every inning except the second and broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning.
Aubrie Messer allowed just one run on five hits over five innings while walking none in the victory.
