LONDON — Blake Robinson wasted little time making his presence felt as South Laurel began its 2026 boys soccer campaign in dominating fashion.
Robinson scored three goals to record a hat trick, helping lead the Cardinals to an 8-0 season-opening victory over Middlesboro.
South Laurel showed plenty of balance around Robinson as five other Cardinals found the back of the net. Jase Jones, Drew Allen, Eli Williams, Chris Ramirez and Ararv Patel each scored one goal in the victory.
South Laurel coach Brooks Cawood was pleased with the way his team moved the ball and communicated throughout the match.
“I was happy to see us move the ball and communicate well,” Cawood said. “Middlesboro was able to get some quick counterattacks going. We have a long break until our next match, and I feel like we came away pleased with the performance tonight while also seeing some aspects of the game we can keep working to improve on.”
