Lady Redhounds capture season-best fourth win in a row

CORBIN — Don’t look now but the Corbin Lady Redhounds have now won a season-best four games in a row.

Corbin (9-17) used a five-run fourth inning and a three-run fifth inning to pull away, and defeat Whitley County (8-20), 9-4.

“Big Win for our ladies tonight,” Corbin coach Crystal Stidham said. “I’m so proud of them and how they came together as a team. My girls had 14 hits and three more that were sharp hits that threw their defense off to get on base tonight. We came to the plate ready and got it done.  Chloe Bays was dialed in tonight again going 3-for-4, followed by Mikaila Hopkins, Lydia King, and Macie Santos going 2-for-4 each. We also collected hits from Apple Terrell, Kaili  Sanders, and Izzy Walker.  We were hitting with runners on and putting it all together tonight.  Chloe Bays had 3 RBI, Lydia King and Sawyer Stamper each had 2 RBI each, followed by Mikaila Hopkins and Parker Davis each collecting an RBI each.”

Stidham said she was impressed once again with Sawyer Stamper’s effort in the pitcher’s circle.

“She’s come in big for us this part of our season,” she said. “Just to be an eighth grader, she shows such composure and is diligent and efficient on the mound. She only allowed six hits on the night with only three earned runs while striking out four and trusting her defense to work and take care of business. I’m just so proud of my girls. We need to continue carrying this momentum we have, working for one another, and things will continue to happen big for them. Let’s Go Lady Redhounds.”
