HINDMAN — Whitley County’s boys soccer team opened the 2026 season in impressive fashion, cruising to an 8-0 road win over Knott Central.
The Colonels improved to 1-0 behind a dominant offensive performance that saw Tootie Mahan record a hat trick while dishing out two assists.
Tucker Hale and Noah Rector added two goals apiece while senior Isac Perez accounted for Whitley County’s other goal by converting a penalty kick.
Whitley County coach Michael Branham was pleased with what he saw from his team in its season opener.
“Great way to start the 2026 season. Our midfield possessed the ball well,” Branham said. “Tootie Mahan had three goals, two assists and led the midfield attack. Tucker Hale and Noah Rector played well up top. They had two goals each. Senior Isac Perez converted a penalty.
“Our defense played very solid and in control,” Branham added. “Our keeper Clyde Johnson got his first shutout of the season and had two saves. Hoping to carry this momentum into our home match with Boyle County this Saturday.”
