LEXINGTON — Bell County’s varsity Lady Bobcats capped a perfect weekend by capturing the Defender Classic championship with a convincing 57-34 victory over Bryan Station on Sunday.
“Good weekend for our basketball team,” Bell County coach David Teague said. “I thought the girls played with alot of focus and most importantly played together. We had contributions from everyone thoughout the three games. Always good to win a Christmas tournament. Hopefully, we can build off of this and keep getting better. Go Lady Cats.”
Bell County went 3-0 during tournament play to earn the title and improved to 10-1 on the season, returning home as Defender Classic champions.
The Lady Bobcats were fueled by standout performances from Nevaeh Allen and Kairi Lamb, who controlled the game on both ends of the floor.
Allen poured in a game-high 24 points, knocking down four shots from beyond the arc while Lamb delivered a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Bell County trailed 21-15 early before responding with a 16-point run, sparked by defensive pressure and solid offensive play, and carried a 31-22 lead into halftime.
Gracie Barton added five points, Aubree Miracle and Bristal Jordan scored four apiece, Gracie Partin and Olivia Brown each finished with two points, and Brylee Redmond chipped in one.
