LONDON — Cam Anderson and Reilly Stuber scored two goals apiece as North Laurel used a balanced offensive attack to roll past Jackson City, 6-1.
The Jaguars built a commanding 4-0 halftime advantage and added two more goals after the break to improve to 3-1 on the season.
Sawyer Miller started the scoring by heading a Zach Jacobs corner kick into the net. Malik Turner followed with North Laurel’s second goal off an assist from Tate Philpot before Stuber connected on a pass from Jacobs to make it 3-0.
Anderson finished off the first-half scoring with a goal assisted by Gavin Martin.
“We came out with the win tonight, but I didn’t feel that we played very well tonight,” North Laurel coach David Broyles said. “Thought we came out a little flat tonight, but we still had several scoring opportunities early in the game. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to convert.
“We opened the scoring off a Zach Jacobs corner that Sawyer Miller headed into the back of the net,” he added. “We added a second when Tate Philpot assisted Malik Turner. Our third goal came when Reilly Stuber netted a Zachary Jacobs pass, and our fourth goal was netted by Cam Anderson, assisted by Gavin Martin, for a 4-0 halftime lead.”
Anderson struck again in the second half in impressive fashion, perfectly placing a free kick into the net from 40 yards out for his second goal of the game.
Stuber then added his second goal after taking a pass from Turner, giving the Jaguars a 6-0 advantage before Jackson City scored late to avoid the shutout.
“We came out the second half and continued to be a little flat, and it took about 12 minutes for us to score our fifth goal when Cam Anderson perfectly placed a free kick in the back of the net from 40 yards out,” Broyles said. “Our final goal came a few minutes later when Malik Turner found Reilly Stuber, who put it in the back of the net. We gave up a late goal to make the final 6-1.
“At the end of the day, we got the win, but I felt we kind of looked past this game to the game Saturday against Lafayette,” Broyles said.
