LONDON — South Laurel battled through four competitive sets before pulling away in the finale to defeat CHAT, 3-1, and remain unbeaten on the season at 2-0.
The Lady Cardinals opened the match by edging CHAT, 26-24, in a tightly contested first set.
CHAT answered with a 25-23 victory in the second to even the match, but South Laurel responded.
The Lady Cardinals regained control with a 25-21 win in the third set before turning in their most dominant performance of the night in the fourth, cruising to a 25-14 victory to close out the match.
“Gritty effort by the girls tonight,” South Laurel coach Billy Ball said. “CHAT is a very well-coached team with good players, and we knew going in that they would be tough competition. We battled through some adversity, but the girls continue to have that will to win! I am proud of my team. Go Cards.”
