LONDON — South Laurel closed out the Legacy Nissan Dribble Drive Challenge in strong fashion Monday, defeating Russell 62-46 to improve to 4-3 on the season.
The win capped a perfect 3-0 run for the Cardinals in the event and extended their current winning streak to three games.
South Laurel grabbed early momentum, leading 15-12 after the first quarter as Isaiah Robinson scored seven points in the period, while Brendan Murphy and Blaine Baker each added four points.
Robinson continued his hot hand in the second quarter, scoring seven more points and knocking down two 3-pointers. Kaiden McQueen also scored seven in the frame as the Cardinals pushed their lead to 35-24 at halftime.
The Cardinals put further separation between themselves and Russell in the third quarter. Kaden Taylor hit two 3-pointers and scored eight points during the period, while Murphy added four as South Laurel took a 51-37 advantage into the fourth quarter.
South Laurel stayed in control over the final eight minutes to seal the 16-point victory.
McQueen led the Cardinals with 15 points, while Robinson finished with 14. Taylor added 13 points, and Murphy chipped in 10 as South Laurel showcased balanced scoring throughout the contest.
