LONDON — Corbin bounced back in a big way on Saturday, pulling away early and never looking back in a 78–47 win over East Jessamine to improve to 2–4 on the season.
The Redhounds set the tone early as Eli Pietrowski scored eight points in the opening quarter while Evan Ellis added seven to help Corbin take a 17–11 lead after one.
Corbin’s offense took control in the second quarter.
Pietrowski poured in 10 more points, and Lucas Brittain and Keaton Smith each knocked down a 3-pointer as the Redhounds stretched the advantage to 41–20 by halftime.
The lead continued to grow in the third quarter behind Trey Person, who scored six points in the period, and Pietrowski, who added five more as Corbin pushed its lead to 60–33 entering the fourth.
Pietrowski earned Player of the Game honors after finishing with a game-high 27 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. Person and Ellis each scored 10 points. Ellis also had seven assists while Brittain added nine.
After the win, Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski was pleased with how his team responded.
“Good bounce back win for our team today,” he said. “Evan played really well. They showed him a ton of attention and he distributed it well. Then scored when needed.
“Eli was a beast today,” Pietrowski added. “He scored it from a variety of areas. He also passed and rebounded it well, too.”
Pietrowski also pointed to growth from several others in the rotation.
“We are having some guys start to step up,” he said. “Lucas Brittain, Trey Person and Dalton Henderson all did a lot of good things today. Another tough test tomorrow.”
