LONDON — Corbin answered South Laurel’s second-set challenge and held off the Lady Cardinals in a tight fourth set to secure a 3-1 victory in 50th District volleyball action.
“Tonight was a great test for our team, and I thought our ladies handled themselves extremely well,” Corbin coach Krystal Jones said. “We definitely have some kinks to work out, but I’m proud of the way we stayed composed and competed. More than anything, I’m proud of the character of these young ladies. We’ll keep working and keep growing. Go Hounds!”
The Lady Redhounds came out strong, taking the opening set 25-12 before South Laurel responded with a 25-23 victory in the second to even the match.
Corbin regained control with another convincing 25-12 win in the third set, putting the Lady Redhounds one set away from the district victory.
South Laurel didn’t go quietly.
The Lady Cardinals pushed Corbin throughout a back-and-forth fourth set, but the Lady Redhounds stayed composed and finished off the match with a 26-24 victory.
