Pineville battles through adversity to sweep Harlan

Playing without two starters and with several players taking on different roles, Pineville battled through multiple deficits and lead changes to earn a hard-fought sweep of Harlan in volleyball action.

The Lady Mountain Lions opened with a 25-18 victory before Harlan pushed them throughout a tightly contested second set. Pineville found a way to finish, taking the set 25-23 to move within one of the sweep.

The third set proved to be the battle of the night.

Pineville overcame deficits of five to seven points and fought through several lead changes before eventually prevailing, 32-30, to complete the 3-0 victory.

“Very happy with our performance tonight!” Pineville coach Sam North said. “Two of our starters are out hurt, so the girls had to play some different roles and absolutely had to fight for every single point. We came back from 5-7 point deficits a couple times and battled through several lead changes to win the third set 32-30. Harlan was tough and never went away, so super happy to get away with a sweep.”
