CORBIN — Marcus McKeehan’s Lynn Camp Wildcats started strong during their matchup with Buckhorn on Friday, but couldn’t finish.
The Wildcats led 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, but struggled offensively the remainder of the game while dropping an 88-48 decision.
“We knew coming in to the game tonight it was going to be a tough game,” Lynn Camp coach Marcus McKeehan said. “We battled hard for three quarters but Buckhorn got hot and we were just didn’t battle back.”
“Tonight was the definition of the tale of two halves of basketball,” he added. “After a strong performance at the end of the first quarter, we ended the half with a 10-point deficit. We came out after halftime and just couldn’t find our rhythm.
“We’ve watched film all week preparing for this game,” McKeehan continued. “One player who hadn’t shown up in the scouting report ends up making five 3s. That’s just how basketball works.”
Landen Rose led Lynn Camp with 16 points while Conner Mabe added 11 points.
“Our rebounding really hurt us tonight,” McKeehan said. “That’s going to continue to be our focus. We also struggled from the charity stripe and you can’t win games if you aren’t making free throws.
“We will use this loss to focus on areas that we can improve on and just keep working,” he added. “We are working on building a successful program but that doesn’t happen over night.”
