Middlesboro pulls away late to defeat Lynn Camp, 57-49

CORBIN — Middlesboro used a strong first half to create separation and held off a late Lynn Camp push, earning a 57-49 win Tuesday.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Wildcats slipped to 2-2.

Lynn Camp opened with energy, but Middlesboro controlled the early momentum by taking a 17-10 lead after the first quarter.

The Yellow Jackets extended the margin to 29-17 by halftime and carried a 42-31 advantage into the fourth quarter.

“Another great team effort tonight from our guys,” Lynn Camp coach Marcus McKeehan said. “We came out strong in the first quarter but struggled to score during the second quarter and that really hurt us.”

Joseph Killion paced Middlesboro with 17 points while Bryson Brooks added 14.

Lynn Camp was led by Landen Rose with 14 points, and Eli Mayo followed with 13 points as the Wildcats battled to stay within reach throughout the second half.

“Our kids played hard and left it all on the floor,” McKeehan said. “The amount of effort and heart of our kids is unmatched. I couldn’t ask for anything else from our kids. Tomorrow we will get back to work and focus on eliminating unforced turnovers.”
