Corbin improves to 3-0 with 66-46 win over Pineville

PINEVILLE — Corbin remained unbeaten Tuesday, using a dominant second half to pull away for a 66-46 road victory over Pineville.

The Lady Redhounds (3-0) opened with a 15-9 lead after the first quarter and carried a 35-30 advantage into halftime.

From there, Corbin used its depth and defensive pressure, outscoring Pineville (1-2) 31-16 the rest of the way.

“Good team win for us tonight,” Corbin coach Isaac Wilson said. “Foul trouble really made us play some different lineups tonight which I believe will be great for us moving forward. Having nine different people score in a game like tonight is important and shows our team mentality.”

Corbin knocked down eight 3-pointers, led by Addy Wilson’s four makes on her way to a team-high 14 points. Lydia King added 12 points while Aubree Clemens scored nine and Izzy Walker finished with eight. Twelve Lady Redhounds saw the floor, with nine entering the scoring column.

“Happy with our effort tonight from all 12 girls who played,” Wilson said. “We talk about we being greater than me and I feel tonight‘s performance is an example of that mentality. We will enjoy this one and get back to work as we have plenty to improve on.”

Pineville was led by standout Rachel Howard, who poured in a game-high 22 points, while freshman Kaitlyn Hammontree added 11 points, and Madison Johnson scored 10.
