RICHMOND — Bell County continued its strong start to the season Saturday, defeating the Henry Clay Lady Blue Devils, 63-31, during the Madison Central Shootout.
The Lady Bobcats wasted no time setting the tone defensively.
Bell County led 14-9 after the first quarter, then delivered a dominant second period — outscoring Henry Clay 23-3 — to take a commanding 37-12 lead into halftime. The momentum carried into the third quarter as Bell pushed the margin even further with a 19-5 run.
“Good win for our team on a quick turnaround from last night,” Bell County coach David Teague said. “I thought we were very good defensively, especially in the first half. Had several kids step up and do some good things. Was glad that we got to play a lot of kids today, gave them some experience for moving forward.”
Kairi Lamb turned in a standout performance, finishing with 23 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Nevaeh Allen added 11 points, while Gracie Barton chipped in eight. Mattie Hatfield and Lyla Scearse scored five points apiece. Rachel Redmond and Emma Farmer added three each, Jaelynn Reeder and Taylor-Gracie Parton finished with two apiece, and Olivia Brown rounded out the scoring with one point.
“We just gotta keep working and pushing to get better,” Teague said. “Big week next week with two district games. Go Lady Cats.”
With the win, Bell County improved to 2-0 on the season.
