LONDON — North Laurel continued to build momentum ahead of postseason play, defeating Boyle County, 4-1, on Tuesday to improve to 8-5-2 on the season.
The Jaguars struck quickly, scoring just five minutes into the match before doubling their lead off a corner kick to take control early. Boyle County cut into the margin in the second half, but North Laurel responded with two more goals to seal the win.
Coach David Broyles said while the result was positive, he knows his team has work to do.
“We came out playing really well, moved the ball and scored five minutes in,” he said. “We added a second goal off a corner to make it 2-0, but from there things changed. We struggled to possess, but did enough to maintain the 2-0 lead at half. We came out the second half very flat and just didn’t play well.
“We gifted them an open goal to let them get to within one, but scored two more goals to get the 4-1 win,” Broyles added. “I’m glad we got the win, but not pleased with how we played as a team. We have to play better Thursday when we travel to Corbin. Corbin is always a tough out on their home field and we have to execute better to come home with the win.”
