WILLIAMSBURG — The Corbin Redhounds avenged one of their earlier losses of the season by drafting 49th District rival Whitley County, 3-2, on Tuesday.
The Redhounds were led by Silas Mackey’s two goals while teammate Bentley Hoskins scored one. The win improved Corbin to 7-5-1 while the Colonels fell to 8-7-1.
Rizzo Cima led Whitley County with two goals.
“The game started off very sloppy with chances allowed by both sides,” Corbin coach Roger Taylor said. “In the second half, I think we were able to gain control by winning the vast majority of 50/50 balls and being ready for the second balls.
“After creating many chances we were finally able to get a winner with just a few minutes left,” he added. “Credit to the two freshmen goals scorers for stepping up in big moments.”
