Middlesboro opened its 2025 campaign with an impressive win Saturday night, defeating Breathitt County, 50–36.
With the victory, Middlesboro (1–0) opened its season as underdogs but left with a statement win.
Quarterback Deakon Partin led the Yellow Jackets with 238 yards passing and three touchdowns on 17-of-25 attempts, while also rushing for four scores. Middlesboro piled up 530 yards of offense, including 249 on the ground.
Joseph Killion was Partin’s top target, hauling in seven receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown, while also converting three extra-point kicks. Amari Houston added two catches for 52 yards and two touchdowns, and Mekhi Young contributed two grabs for 24 yards.
Kordell Partin caught one pass for 10 yards, and Malachi Coots had two receptions for nine yards, along with an extra point. Caden Lawson chipped in two catches for 22 yards.
Caden Lawson rushed for 138 yards on 15 carries, and Colby Lawson added 100 yards on 13 attempts.
Defensively, Kordell Partin paced the Jackets with 16 tackles, including three for loss. Colby Lawson had 11 stops, while Caden Lawson added 12. Middlesboro also forced two turnovers, as Amari Houston and Colby Lawson each recorded interceptions.
Breathitt County finished with 441 total yards, rushing for 249 yards and four touchdowns.
The Bobcats’ passing game added 192 yards with one score, but was hurt by two interceptions.
