WILLIAMSBURG — South Laurel’s needed only three innings to improve to 8-3 overall, and 1-0 in 50th District play after recording a 16-0 win over Williamsburg.
Audrey Likins pitched scoreless three innings, allowing only a hit while striking out four batters in the win. South Laurel managed eight hits and took advantage of three errors.
”It’s important to start off district play with a win,” South Laurel’s coach Carly Mink said. “Audrey threw the ball really well tonight and controlled the strike zone. It was good to get some different kids some playing time and have them produce is great to see.”
Kennedy Nolan connected with a double and drove in three runs while Kenzie Williams had a hit, two RBI, and two runs scored. Morgan Jackson drove in a run, and scored three times while Piper Jackson finished with two runs scored. Emmie Rice connected with a hit and drove in two runs while Addison Baker went 2-for-2 with two RBI, and one run scored. Skye Lawson finished with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored while Likins drove in two runs and scored once. Kinlee Ertel had a hit, an RBI, and scored three times.
Makenzie Rice connected with Williamsburg’s lone hit while Brooklyn Taylor took the loss, lasting two innings while allowing six hits, and nine earned runs. She struck out two batters. Kyli Monhollen pitched one inning for the Lady Yellow Jackets (0-9, 0-2), giving up two hits, and three earned runs while striking out a batter.
