LONDON — A four-run sixth inning propelled North Laurel over Leslie County during Monday’s 8-6 win.
The Jaguars (2-3) held a 4-3 lead after two innings of play, but the Eagles battled back to take a 6-4 edge into the bottom of the sixth.
That’s when North Laurel rallied and reclaimed the lead for good as freshman Ethan Anderson got the win after coming in relief of eighth grader Cooper Parman.
Anderson tossed four innings, allowed three hits and two earned runs while finishing with seven Ks. Parman pitched three innings, allowing three hits and four earned runs while striking out six batters.
“Leslie has a good team and we were lucky to come away with a win,” North Laurel coach Darren McWhorter said. “Eighth grader Cooper Parman started the game throwing three innings, and freshman Ethan Anderson threw the last four innings picking up the win.
“Ethan threw really well tonight and we needed him to,” he added. “We had some timely hitting once again the difference in this game and the last three, we were able to hold a lead late in the game. We played well defensively, as we have all year. I liked the way when we fell behind we didn’t quit, and was able to pick up a much-needed win.”
Carter Kelley and Bradyn Evans both had two hits apiece while Kelley also scored twice. Can Hinkle delivered a hit, two RBI and one run scored while Cameron Smith, and Colton Stewart finished with a hit and an RBI apiece. Dylan Hurley and Tanner Houchens drove in a run apiece while Parman had a hit and scored once. Ashton Napier also scored in the win.
