Jaguars receive solid pitching efforts from Hurley, Parman in 4-3 win over Garrard County

LANCASTER — North Laurel overcame five errors, rallying during the final two innings to pull off a 4-3 win over Garrard County on Monday.

The Jaguars (1-0) built an early 2-0 lead in the second inning only to see the Golden Lions claim a 3-2 edge after a two-run fifth inning.

North Laurel pushed across a run in the top of the sixth while Dylan Hurley’s run-scoring sacrifice fly that drove in Carter Kelley in the top of the seventh gave the Jaguars a 4-3 lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

“Great way to start the season,” North Laurel coach Darren McWhorter said. “We had really good pitching from Dylan Hurley and Cooper Parman. Our defense played well had some balls drop due to the sun being in players eyes, other than that we made plays and had some timely hitting.”

Hurley tossed three scoreless innings, allowing only two hits while one unearned run scored. He also struck out two batters. Parman limited Garrard County to two hits in four scoreless innings of work, as two unearned runs scored. He finished with five strikeouts.

Kelley and Eli Holt both finished with two hits and a run scored apiece while Parman delivered two hits. Ashton Napier delivered a hit, an RBI, and a run scored while Hurley finished with a hit and an RBI.
