Lady Colonels’ four-run leads turns into 6-5 loss to Somerset 

WILLIAMSBURG — Angela Singleton’s Whitley County Lady Colonels looked as if they were well on their way to a season-opening win over Somerset on Monday after taking a 5-1 lead in the first inning.

But the Lady Briar Jumpers came storming back, pushing across five unanswered runs to stun the Lady Colonels with a 6-5 win.

Madilyn Rains and Caylee Singelton finished with a hit and two RBI apiece in the loss while Hallie Huddleston turned in a 1-for-3 effort while driving in a run and scoring once. Cambree Price finished with a hit and a run scored while Adalee Johnson and Morgan Huddleston both drove in a run and scored once apiece.

Singleton took the loss in the circle, tossing seven innings while allowing three earned runs and six hits. She finished with eight strikeouts.
