RICHMOND — Jailee Goins found the back of the net late in the first half, and Corbin’s defense made the goal stand as the Lady Redhounds earned a 1-0 victory over Model.
Corbin controlled much of the action and generated several scoring opportunities before finally breaking through. Hadley Elmore provided the assist on Goins’ eventual game-winning goal.
“It was a good win for us,” Corbin coach Hannah Goins said. “We came out strong tonight. We controlled the game and played well together.”
After creating chances throughout the opening half, the Lady Redhounds were rewarded when Goins scored to give Corbin a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
“We had a lot of opportunities and were finally able to put one in toward the end of the first half,” Goins said.
Corbin maintained its intensity after the break and kept Model off the scoreboard. The Lady Redhounds continued creating opportunities of their own but were unable to add to their advantage.
“We kept up the intensity and held them off in the second half,” Goins said. “We had several chances in the second half, and still need to work on finishing those opportunities, but we’ve been playing and controlling the game very well.”
For Goins, the shutout victory was another indication of the progress her team continues to make.
“I’m very proud of the way we’ve been playing together and the improvements we’ve made.”
