Jackson County rallies past North Laurel in five-set district battle

MCKEE — Jackson County overcame an early two-set deficit to knock off North Laurel, 3-2, in a big district volleyball matchup.

The victory gave the Lady Generals an important district win while bringing North Laurel’s five-match winning streak to an end.

North Laurel appeared to be in control early, taking each of the first two sets to move within one set of closing out the match. But Jackson County responded, winning three consecutive sets to complete the comeback.

“We couldn’t get the job done,” North Laurel coach Angela Singleton said. “Won the first two sets and then couldn’t get anything going well enough to finish it out.”

The loss was North Laurel’s first after stringing together five consecutive victories.

“Back to work again tomorrow and get ready for the next game,” Singleton said.
