LONDON — Sixteen and counting.
North Laurel moved its win streak to 16 games after upending Leslie County on Friday, 6-0.
“An old fashioned pitchers duel for a long time tonight,” North Laurel coach Chris Edwards said. “The pitcher for Leslie can really throw it. Throws it hard and spins everything. She presented a real challenge. We had several walks and a couple hit batters as well. These types of games will serve us well in the future we hope.
“Not too many hits tonight but some timely hits especially late,” he added. “Reeselynn Garland led the way tonight with two hits. We had some chances but credit to them, they made some plays to keep us off the board.”
Edwards said he was pleased with another stellar pitching effort from Tessa Monhollen.
“Tessa in the circle tonight is what we have come to expect,” he said. “Only allowed three hits, no runs and had 14 strikeouts. She was in total control tonight. That has become the norm with Tessa. Big game tomorrow and then the final week of the season. Go Jags.”
