Whitley County’s losing skid hits 21 games with 38-0 loss to Boyle County

DANVILLE — Whitley County’s struggles continued Thursday night as defending Class 4A state champion Boyle County scored 35 first-quarter points on its way to a 38-0 victory over the Colonels in the opening round of the KHSAA football playoffs.

The loss ended Whitley County’s season at 0-11 and extended the Colonels’ losing streak to 21 consecutive games.

Boyle County (9-2) wasted little time taking control of the contest at Rebel Stadium, building a 35-0 advantage before the end of the opening quarter.

The Rebels were so dominant during the first 12 minutes that the running clock went into effect with 55 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Kain Logan, Garrison Bragg and Brayden Borders-Coffman each scored rushing touchdowns for Boyle County, while Seneca Driver added a touchdown reception.

The Rebels also received a defensive touchdown when Lucas Akers returned a fumble for a score.

Grant Klosterman connected on a field goal to complete Boyle County’s scoring as the Rebels carried a 38-0 lead into halftime.

Neither team scored during the second half as Boyle County secured the shutout and advanced to the second round of postseason play.

The victory marked Boyle County’s ninth win of the season and kept the Rebels’ hopes of defending their Class 4A state championship alive. They will host either Perry County Central or Lincoln County in the second round Nov. 14.
