Bret Estep, Trey Person lead Corbin past Hazard in Eli Hill Invitational

CORBIN — Bret Estep delivered both on the mound and at the plate Friday as Corbin rolled past Hazard, 9-2, in the Eli Hill Invitational.

The Redhounds improved to 15-14 on the season after using a four-run fourth inning to take control.

Estep went 2-for-4 with two RBI while also earning the win on the mound after allowing just two runs on six hits over five innings.

Trey Person added another strong performance offensively, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Dallas Merida collected two hits and an RBI while Malachi Zachery drove in two runs.

Levi Brock added an RBI single, Carson Taylor drove in a run, and Jaden Broughton also picked up an RBI for Corbin.

The Redhounds showed patience at the plate with eight walks and also pressured Hazard on the bases with six stolen bases. Cam Estep and Person each stole two bases in the win. Clay Botner closed things out on the mound for Corbin, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
