WILLIAMSBURG — Alivia Hoskins was nearly untouchable in the circle and backed it up at the plate as Clay County rolled to a 12-1 win over Whitley County on Friday.
Hoskins struck out 12 and allowed just one hit across seven dominant innings, controlling the game from the first pitch while also driving in two runs offensively to lead the Lady Tigers.
After a quiet first inning, the Lady Tigers (7-5) scratched across single runs in the second inning and fifth inning before erupting for eight runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach. They added two more runs in the seventh to cap a 16-hit effort.
Madison Sizemore led the way, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Casey Lust and Maddie Craft each drove in two runs. Emi Reynolds added a pair of hits and an RBI, and Holly Hacker chipped in two hits.
Whitley County’s (6-7) lone run came from Payton Hurst, who accounted for the Lady Colonels’ only hit of the game.
