Mitchell records first win as Wildcat coach, Lynn Camp holds off Berea, 30-24

CORBIN — Allen Mitchell recorded his first win as Lynn Camp’s coach thanks to a late comeback from the Wildcats.

Both teams’ offenses scored early and often before Lynn Camp managed to pull off a 30-24 victory while improving to 1-1 during the process.

The Pirates led 18-8 at halftime before the Wildcats outscored Berea, 22-6, in the second half.

“This was a great win for us,” Mitchell said. “Especially considering our youth and we are thing in numbers.

“We made a lot of mistakes, and trailed 24-8 at halftime, but I tell you what, Conner Mabe had a strip sack for a touchdown and that turned the game around,” he added. “Our guys played their tails off. We can build on this. Our guys came together as a team. They didn’t give it us, we just got after it.”
