SOMERSET — Whitley County (1-1) couldn’t keep pace with a red-hot Pulaski County squad on Saturday, falling 71-32 after the Lady Maroons knocked down five 3-pointers in the opening quarter to build a 24-14 lead. Pulaski continued its strong offensive showing, extending the margin to 45-22 at halftime and 65-25 entering the fourth quarter.
Maddy Hopkins was a bright spot for the Lady Colonels, leading the team with 18 points while connecting on three shots from long range.
Whitley County coach Ronnie Collier said the matchup provided a clear early-season measuring stick.
“Pulaski has a very talented team, and they showed it tonight,” he said. “Our young girls had to step up and play a lot in the first half due to some foul trouble and an injury. It was good for us to see what we need to work on. We will get in the gym tomorrow and work on improving.”
