Owls Pull Away as Lynn Camp Falls in Season Opener, 84–40

BOONEVILLE — For the first 12 minutes, Lynn Camp looked every bit ready to open the Marcus McKeehan era on the right foot.
The Wildcats trailed just 17–13 after a competitive first quarter and matched Owsley County’s pace early on.
But once the Owls began to capitalize on turnovers and speed the game up, things turned quickly as Lynn Camp suffered an 84–40 setback on opening night.
“We played good for the first 12 minutes of the game and matched their intensity,” McKeehan said. “It was a really tight ballgame during that time frame. We had some unforced turnovers after beating their pressure and it kind of snowballed from there.”
Lynn Camp fell behind 42–20 at halftime and was outscored 42–20 in the second half.
Conner Mabe led the Wildcats with 11 points and ignited the bench with a slam dunk. Caleb Woods followed with seven points, while Landon Rose finished with six. Elijah Mayo added five points, Eisen Mayo scored four, Gavin Sutherland chipped in three, and DJ Wren contributed two points.
Despite the final outcome, McKeehan said his team remains on the right track.
“Our kids are working hard and making improvements,” he said. “We have played two tough opponents in our preseason scrimmages and opened up on the road in 14th Region in a hostile environment against a solid Owsley County team that returned their top six players. We will get back in the gym and continue working to make adjustments and put our kids in the best situations.”
