LONDON — North Laurel held its own for a half against Pulaski County before dropping a 49-14 decision to the Maroons.
The Jaguars (6-2, 2-1) saw their five-game win streak fall to the way side after the Maroons took control in the second half.
North Laurel jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Pulaski County scored 13 unanswered points to take a 13-7 edge.
The Jaguars marched down field and reclaimed a 14-13 edge behind a one-yard touchdown run by Jude McWhorter with five minutes remaining in the second quarter.
Pulaski County answered with two touchdowns to close out the first half, taking a 27-14 lead into the locker room.
The Maroons continued to dominate in the second half adding two more scores to take a 42-14 advantage.
North Laurel didn’t have an answer for Pulaski County’s high powered offense the remainder of the game.
The Jaguars have a huge district matchup with cross-town rival South Laurel Friday at the Jungle. The winner of the game will clinch home field advantage during first round action of the Class 5A playoffs.
North Laurel leads the overall series with the Cardinals, 20-15. South Laurel won 11 of the first 15 games between the two teams before watching the Jaguars win 16 of the last 20 matchups.
