HARLAN — The Corbin Redhounds ended their three-game losing streak in dominant fashion Friday night, rolling past the Harlan County Black Bears, 53-6.
The win moves Corbin to 4-3 on the season while Harlan County drops to 4-3. The 53 points mark the Redhounds’ highest offensive output of the year.
Corbin wasted little time setting the tone, with Mason Salmons connecting on a 20-yard touchdown pass to Cam Estep to make it 6-0 early in the first quarter.
Just over a minute later, Eli Pietrowski jumped a route and took an interception 40 yards to the house, extending the lead to 12-0.
Salmons found Zach Thomas for a 25-yard touchdown to make it 19-0 before Cole Stevens broke free on a 45-yard touchdown run to push the margin to 26-0.
The aerial attack continued when Salmons once again linked up with Thomas, this time on a 57-yard strike, giving Corbin a 40-0 lead midway through the second quarter.
Thomas wasn’t done — he returned another interception 60 yards for a touchdown, sending the Redhounds into halftime up 46-0.
Harlan County’s lone score came late in the third quarter on a 25-yard touchdown run by Jayce Brown, cutting the deficit to 46-6.
Corbin added one more score in the fourth when Brody Hart dashed in from 22 yards out, sealing the 53-6 win.
