LONDON — North Laurel continued its district dominance Thursday night, defeating Corbin, 6-0, to claim its third consecutive 49th District girls’ soccer tournament championship.
The Lady Jaguars (10-5) have now won four straight matchups against Corbin, shutting out the Lady Redhounds for the second time this season. North Laurel outscored its opponents in the district tournament by a combined 14-0 margin, showcasing an unrelenting defense and balanced offensive attack.
Leading the charge was Lauren Crouch, who netted three goals, while McKinley Mastin added two goals and an assist. Haley Combs chipped in a goal and an assist as the Lady Jaguars controlled the pace from start to finish.
Both North Laurel and Corbin (8-11) advance to next week’s 13th Region Girls’ Soccer Tournament, where the Lady Jaguars look to continue their postseason run.
“Proud of our effort tonight,” North Laurel coach Kayla Bargo said. “Corbin came out physical and ready to play. We were able to stand strong and pull out a great win.
All around the field, girls are stepping up and making big plays. I can’t brag on just one, as a team we are coming together at the right time. Excited to see what we can accomplish next week at the Regional level.”
