SOMERSET — South Laurel suffered its first loss of the season, a 42-7 setback to Pulaski County.
The Maroons have been a thorn in the Cardinals’ side, winning their 14th straight matchup against South Laurel while rushing for close to 300 yards in the 35-point victory.
South Laurel drove the ball into the red zone a couple of times in the first half but couldn’t put any points on the scoreboard, falling behind 21-0.
The Cardinals managed to score with 37 seconds remaining in the first half but trailed 21-7 at halftime.
The Maroons put the game away with a stingy defensive effort while building their lead to 35-7.
Pulaski County snapped a two-game losing skid in the process, improving to 5-2 and 1-0 in district play while South Laurel fell to 7-1, and 0-1.
