LONDON — It only took South Laurel three innings to capture its season-best fourth win in a row in Tuesday.
The Lady Cardinals (14-4 overall, 3-0 vs. 50th District competition) scored three runs in the first inning, adding nine more runs in the second inning before putting the finishing touches on its 16-1 win over Williamsburg with four more runs in the third inning.
“We’ve got a great group of girls that continue to work hard each and everyday,” Mink said. “We’re going to keep working and getting better. It’s important in any game to get a lead early. We were able to do that tonight and get a district win.”
Audrey Likins turned in a solid performance in the circle, limiting the Lady Yellow Jackets (2-15, 0-5) to only one hit, and one run. She struck out one batter.
“Pitching and defense can carry you a long way in this game,” Mink said. “We worked extremely hard in those areas. Proud of Audrey Likins tonight; she continues to give us great games in the circle.”
