LONDON — North Laurel continued its recent surge with a hard-fought five-set victory over Knox Central, defeating the Lady Panthers 3-2 for its fifth consecutive win on Monday.
The Lady Jaguars improved to 10-7 with the victory and once again showed their ability to respond when facing adversity.
“I’ve said it multiple times, but I am so proud of these girls and their work ethic,” North Laurel coach Angela Singleton said. “I told them tonight the grit that they showed for their teammates and themselves was amazing.”
With the match on the line, North Laurel elevated its play during the fourth and fifth sets to finish off the victory.
“The way they were able to work together when one was down or one made a mistake was the best part about tonight,” Singleton said. “They showed up for one another, fought for one another, and gave it their all in the fourth and fifth sets.”
Singleton said there are still areas the Lady Jaguars need to improve despite their five-match winning streak, but she was especially pleased with the effort her players displayed when the match mattered most.
“We still have aspects of our game we need to clean up, and we will work on it,” Singleton said. “I asked them to give me all they had in those last two sets, and they did just that. The hustle was fire tonight. Go Jags.”
