Lady Redhounds Keep Believing, Reach Region Championship

MCKEE — It’s been a rollercoaster of a season for Crystal Stidham’s Corbin Lady Redhounds.

Whether it’s been having to deal with injuries or the struggles of playing a tough schedule, Stidham and her Lady Redhounds continued to right the ship and are now one game away from capturing the program’s second 13th Region championship, a feat that’s only been accomplished once in program history when Stidham guided Corbin to a region crown in 2022.

The Lady Redhounds advanced to the region title game by defeating Clay County, 5-2, on Thursday.

Friday’s appearance in the 13th Region title game against South Laurel will mark Corbin’s third trip since 2022.

“Oh my goodness, my Lady Redhounds are going to the Region Championship,” Stidham said. “I am so very proud of them and all they’ve accomplished this season. All they have overcome, all those who didn’t think we could, well I knew my team could if they stayed the course, trusted the process, and look at them now. Just so proud of them. “Macie Santos was strong on the mound and when we needed to switch it up, Sawyer  Stamper, she came in and went to work,” she added. “I cannot be more proud of their trust in our team and one another. Macie struck out seven, only allowing two runs on three hits, and Sawyer allowed nothing. The defense was strong. Lydia King was on fire on defense getting everything her way on a Shortstop w some stellar plays. And all the defense came ready to back up everything that came their way.  Just a solid all around team win and that’s what it’s all about. The team.

“Kaili Sanders started with a home run, then we broke it loose with runners on and two big hits from Sawyer Stamper, and big hits from Chloe Bays, Mikaila Hopkins, Macie Santos,” Stidham continued. “The rest of the offense kept putting the ball in play and just making it work tonight. A huge win against a great Clay County team. Let’s Go Lady Redhounds.”
