BARBOURVILLE — Knox Central keeps stacking wins, and doing it in dominant fashion.
The Panthers (17-6) rolled past Pineville 15-0 on Tuesday, extending its win streak to 10 games while finishing 51st District play a perfect 3-0.
“Proud of the way our kids are competing,” Knox Central coach Mike Bright said. “We have been playing well but still have some stuff to clean up before the tournament starts. “
Knox Central wasted no time taking control, scoring six runs in the first inning and following it up with five more in the second. By the third inning, the Panthers had built a commanding 15-0 lead, ending the game early.
Trevor Smith led the way with a pair of hits and two RBI while Matthew Powenski continued his steady play with two hits and an RBI. Hayden Melton added two hits, scored twice, and drove in a run, and Jonathan Hobbs chipped in with a hit, a run, and reached base multiple times.
On the mound, the Panthers were flawless. Zach Carroll and Nate Miller combined for a no-hitter over three innings, striking out four and not allowing a baserunner.
