Colonels remain red-hot, cruise past Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG — Straight off of a Kentucky 2A state championship effort, the Whitley County Colonels brought out their 2023 state championship uniforms and preceded to hand Williamsburg a 14-0 loss on Monday.

The Colonels scored early and often in the win, improving to 18-2 overall, and 3-0 against district competition.

“Kip Allen came out and knocked the bat out of Williamsburg hands,” Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. “Filled up the strike zone. We were able to put offense pressure on them and end the game early. Go Colonels.”

Kip Allen turned in an impressive effort in the mound, tossing a five inning shutout while striking out 10 batters and only allowing two hits.

Whitley County scored three runs in the first inning before adding seven in the second inning and three more in the third inning.

Cooper Parman continued his hit streak at the plate, going 2-for-2 with one RBI, and one run scored while Ty Petrey, Caleb Cureton and Dee Parker each had a hit apiece and two RBI. Henry Bowling and Kaden Powers each drove in a run apiece.
