Lady Redhounds heating up, hand Williamsburg 19-3 loss

CORBIN — After getting off to a slow start, Crystal Stidham’s Corbin Lady Redhounds are beginning to hit stride.

The Lady Redhounds won their second straight game while improving to 3-8 with a 19-3 victory over 50th District for Williamsburg on Tuesday.

“I love my team,” Stidham said. “Proud of their grit. These ladies are so resilient and learning how to persevere through. Already this season, my girls have learned how to overcome injuries, trusting the process, and staying the course, and are coming together as a team.

“Today, we got our bats going quickly and more together,” she added. “We’ve had some games where we were one hit away from winning the game, had the opportunity to win and it just didn’t go our way, and I’ve told my girls to hang in there we are right there and if they will keep working and trusting it will happen. They are young overall, but an awesome group.”

Stidham said she was pleased with the way her team performed at the plate and in the pitcher’s circle.

“Tonight we had nine girls with hits,” she said. “Apple Terrell went across the creek with one tonight. I’ve been waiting on it because it was only a matter of time for her. Mikaila Hopkins, Lydia King, and Kaili Sanders have been solid and consistent for the team at the plate. Macie Santos along with Apple had a great night racking in 3 RBI each. Cami Price, Chloe Bays, Makenna Wilson, Abbie Mott, Allie Neeley, and Sawyer Stamper are putting the ball in play and giving our team a chance.   “Just so much I am proud of them for,” Stidham added. “We had a couple missed plays on defense, but cleaned it up and got it back at the plate for our team. Just an overall great win tonight and so glad to see our girls coming together and getting this win. Let’s Go Lady Redhounds.”
