CORBIN — Corbin used a seven-run fourth inning to break open a tight game and roll past Ryle, 11-5, on Tuesday.
The Redhounds (6-5) jumped out early with two runs in the first inning before Ryle battled back to take a 5-2 lead midway through the game.
That’s when Corbin responded in a big way.
The Redhounds broke open a 2-all tie with a seven-run fourth inning to take a 9-2 edge. The Raiders answered with three in the top of the fifth before Corbin wrapped up the win with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
“Malachi did a great job again tonight,” Corbin coach Cody Philpot said. “Brady came in and shut it down again. It was a better day offensively for us. Several guys came through for us today. Good team win.”
Trey Person led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Malachi Zachery delivered a big night as well, finishing with two hits and four RBI, including a home run.
Cam Estep and Levi Brock each added doubles while Clay Botner and Kaiden Freeman also contributed hits in Corbin’s 10-hit effort.
Zachery got the win, working 4.1 innings with six strikeouts. Brady Webb came on in relief, allowing no runs over the final 2.2 innings while striking out three.
