BARBOURVILLE — Knox Central used a six-run rally during the first two innings to hand North Laurel a 6-3 loss on Tuesday.
The Panthers (6-5) fell behind 2-0 before scoring three runs in the bottom first inning and adding three more in the second inning to take control of the game.
“Our pitchers put together a really good game start to finish,” Knox Central coach Mike Bright said. “Trevor smith was good all night for us six innings and was able to pound the zone only one walk. Easton Ramsey came in and closed for us and was clutch at the end. Good win tonight proud of the way our kids are competing.”
North Laurel (4-6) added another run in the sixth, but couldn’t push any more runs across.
“Cam Smith had a game 2-for-3, two home runs and three RBI,” Jaguar coach Darren McWhorter said. “Cooper Elza was 2-for-2 with a walk. Other than that, not much to say. Got in a hole early walks were the main issue that led to the six runs in the first two innings. We settled down pitch well enough played well defensively, just couldn’t score runs tonight.”
Easton Ramsey powered the Panthers offensively a hit and four RBI while Hayden Melton scored twice and added a hit. Jeremiah Hobbs had a hit and a run scored.
Trevor Smith got the win, tossing six innings while allowing three runs on five hits and striking out seven. Ramsey closed things out in the seventh, striking out three in a perfect inning to get the save.
North Laurel was led by Cameron Smith, who had a big night at the plate with two home runs while tallying three RBI. Cooper Elza added two hits while Eli Holt chipped in a hit.
