BARBOURVILLE — Hallie Huddleston powered a dominant offensive showing as Whitley County rolled past Barbourville 18-0 on Tuesday.
Huddleston delivered a huge night at the plate, going 4-for-4 with six RBI, including a double and a triple, to lead the Lady Colonels’ 11-hit attack.
Seventh grader Megan McKiddy was dominant in the pitcher’s circle, tossing a no-hitter while striking out seven and allowing just one walk.
“Really pleased with our girls’ approach to the game,” Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. “I thought we came out with a lot of focus and hit the ball well. Happy for Megan to get the no-hitter. She’s throwing the ball really well for us and our defense is backing her up. We just have to keep working and learning from our mistakes. We have a great group of girls.”
Whitley County (5-6) wasted no time taking control, driving in seven runs in the first inning before putting the game completely out of reach with an 11-run third inning.
Jazlynn Brown added three hits and drove in three runs while Payton Hurst scored three times and knocked in a pair. Katelyn Shepherd chipped in a triple and an RBI, and Madilyn Rains added a hit and drove in a run.
