Red-hot Colonels remain perfect at 3-0

WILLIAMSBURG — The state’s No. 6 ranked squad improved to 3-0 on Saturday with identical 11-1 wins over Somerset and Tate’s Creek.

For the third straight game, Colonels coach Jeremy Shope received solid efforts from the plate and on the mound.

“Two good wins today,” he said. “Kip and Christian pitched really well in game one, only allowing one run against Somerset. Offensively, we swung the bats really well. Double digit hits in a five-inning game. We ran the bases really well also — great team effort.

“Game two we, came out and put up a nine-run first inning,” he added. “We again did some damage at the plate. Big hits in the right spots. Looking forward to watching this team get better. We were able to use several arms today and only gave up two runs in two games. We played excellent defense.”
