Williams Dominates as South Laurel Blanks Estill County, Moves to 3-0

IRVINE — Kenzie Williams was nearly untouchable Saturday, firing a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead South Laurel to a dominant 13-0 win over Estill County.

The win marks South Laurel’s second straight victory over the Lady Engineers in as many days.

Williams controlled the game from the first pitch, allowing no hits and no runs while walking none across five innings. She needed just 64 pitches (50 strikes) in a masterful outing as the Lady Cardinals rolled to their third straight win.

“Had a great effort from Kenzie in the circle today,” South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. “Very efficient and ended up allowing no hitsz Defensively, we played well behind Kenzie, and made plays when the ball was put in play. Offensively, today we were able to have very productive at bats, stole a lot of bases, and were able to drive them in.”

South Laurel (3-0) wasted no time setting the tone offensively, plating four runs in the first inning and never slowing down. The Lady Cardinals scored in every inning, finishing with 13 runs on 15 hits.

Bailey Frazier sparked the offense at the top of the lineup, scoring three runs, stealing three bases while reaching base multiple times. Morgan Jackson added two hits and drove in two runs while Aubrie Messer delivered a team-high three RBIs.

Emmie Rice had a big day as well, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Ryleigh Bretz added two hits and scored twice. Kiley Dunaway chipped in with two hits, three stolen bases and two runs scored.
