Colonels’ senior class of Bowling, Parker and Sharp make history 

WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County’s senior class of Henry Bowling, Dee Parker, and Garrett Sharp became the winningest class in Colonel basketball history on Friday, capturing its 75th win thanks to an easy, 81-22, win over Williamsburg.

“Good District and Senior Night win for our guys. This senior class has been instrumental in turning our program around,” Whitley County coach Eric Swords said. “They have taken this program from one of the lower teams in the region to a program that is near the top and competitive with everyone every year. They are the winningest class in program history now, with 75 wins in their careers as Colonels. Can’t say enough about them, I love them all, they are all competitors and have bought in to do what is best for the Colonels, and most importantly just great people. Go Colonels.”

The Colonels reeled off its third straight win, fourth during its last five games while improving to 16-5, and 3-1 against 50th District foes.

Tootie Mahan led with 19 points while Caleb Cureton added 12 points while Parker finished with 11 points, and Bowling chipped in nine points.

The loss, the Yellow Jackets’ 14th in a row, dropped Brandon Bargo’s squad to 1-20, and 0-4 in district play.

Lane Jeffries led Williamsburg with 13 points while Holden Clark added four points.
