Bobcats Dominate Harlan County Behind Ferguson’s Perfect Night

HARLAN — Bell County delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Wednesday, rolling past Harlan County 78–40 in a 52nd District matchup.

“Super proud of our guys I thought we came out of the gate and applied a lot of pressure for court which allowed us to get running,” Bell County coach Brad Sizemore said. “We had several kids step up on both sides of the ball and did a really good job rebounding as well. Harlan County is a tough place to play. It’s always good when you can get another big district win especial on the road.”

Braxton Ferguson turned in a perfect performance, leading Bell County with 27 points while shooting 8-for-8 from the floor, 5-for-5 from two-point range, 3-for-3 from 3, and 8-for-8 at the free-throw line. He also dished out four assists and added two steals.

The Bobcats set the tone immediately, racing out to a 20–10 lead after the first quarter and stretching the margin to 40–19 at halftime. 

Bell County continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring Harlan County 27–14 in the third quarter to put the game away early.

Blake Burnett added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Jaxon Thomas scored 11 points, hitting three three-pointers. 

Ethan Buell chipped in 11 points and five rebounds, and Bentley Buell added six points.

Bell County shot 29-of-43 from the field (67 percent) and knocked down 8-of-14 from three-point range. The Bobcats also dominated inside, winning the rebounding battle 23–18 on the defensive glass while forcing seven Harlan County turnovers.
