Lady Redhounds drop 64-55 decision at home to Southwestern

CORBIN — Isaac Wilson’s Corbin Lady Redhounds hung tough with visiting Southwestern Friday before falling, 64-55.

Lydia King led Corbin with 16 points while Lynlee Pietrowski added 12 points.

The loss drops the Lady Redhounds to 6-5.

“Another tough close game for our group tonight,” Wilson said. “We are competing at a high level for most of the games that we have lost, but we are finding stretches that we play just poorly enough to cost us in the end. I believe in this group and I believe that we will continue to work in the areas that we need to show improvement.

“Each game we talk about being a practice and learning from each moment to help prepare us for a postseason run,” he added. “Hats off to southwestern as I thought their 1-2-2 zone really bothered us tonight and was the difference in the basketball game. They have a nice team and a chance to win their region and represent the 12th at Rupp Arena this year. For us, we began district play next week and it’s important that we maintain a focus throughout these stretches and give ourselves the best possible seed looking ahead to the 50th District tournament.”
